This picture shows how a sling is
held. One end is securely wrapped around the fingers of one hand.
The other end is held between the fingers of the same hand. A
stone or other small heavy object is placed in the end area of the
sling.
When used, the sling is swung and at the appropriate moment the
end held by the fingers is let go, hurling the stone at the intended
prey.
The sling may be spun around overhead numerous times before
letting go, or simply swung once, as if throwing it. The advantage
of the "simply swung once" method is that the intended prey is less likely to
notice its impending doom. |
