Fire - Mini Bow Drills

Who says bow-drill sets have to be a certain size?  (see also Large-size bowdrills)

The straight stick tied to the bow is to provide support for the curved stick. Without it, the curved stick would not have enough tension to keep the string tight. It acts much like the extra stick in a "father-son" bow.

Note that this mini bowdrill is VERY small compared to my knife, and one would think it wouldn't work -- hmmmm -- where's the tension?

If you view the right hand side of the "mini bow" you will see small holes. These small holes serve as my tension system.

They work very well, and they allow for a smaller bow to be used and keep as much tension on the bow as one would want!

I have made many fires over the years with these kind of mini bows.

Trust me, you can make these mini bows very very small!
