Who is Anthonio Akkermans? A brief Biography

Anthonio studied under Ofer Israeli and Tom Brown Jr. for over 6 years. While living in Holland, he decided to teach the skills he was learning to young people in his area. Under the guidance of his mentor Ofer, he set up a weekly youth-group, which was well attended by children whose age ranged from 7 to 14 years old. This was quite a steep learning curve, as Anthonio himself was only 18.

After a year instructing these children, Anthonio moved away to London. While in London, he practiced his existing skills extensively in the parks, as well as the forests around London. In the two and a half years he lived there, he also traveled to the United States many times to attend courses at the world renowned “Tracker Inc”, which is founded and led by master tracker and outdoorsman Tom Brown Jr.

While living in London, he also met Gillian, who was later to become his wife. After they married, they both decided to move back to Gillian’s home-town in Northern Ireland. Here Anthonio decided to start working on making his dream a reality. In the end of 2001, Wild-Live was founded.

Since 2001, Anthonio has instructed many different people. He has taken professionals out and shown them a different world outside society. He taught mentally disabled people how to live on the earth without any modern tools, and recently taught basic primitive survival skills to Boy scouts. Together with a different school, Anthonio also organized workshops in Israel and London, which were a resounding success. Anthonio also teaches flint knapping and bow making courses, and is one of the instructors at the annual Wilderness Gathering in England. Together with Will Lord (beyond 2000bc), he is also the founder of the first ever flintknapping festival in the UK, the "Knap-Fest".
