DISCLAIMER:

IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT WILD EDIBLE FUNGI

  • Some mushrooms and fungi are DEADLY poisonous. The effects do not show until it is too late to save yourself, and the effects are NOT pleasant. It is a horrible way to die.
  • Be sure of your identification of any wild edible fungi BEFORE you eat it! Some wild edible fungi have very poisonous look-alikes.
  • You may be allergic to some wild edible fungi. If you are at all unsure if you will be allergic to a particular fungi, eat just a little bit at first. Or better yet, leave it alone.
  • *YOU* are 100% responsible for properly identifying and properly preparing wild edible fungi that you eat! NOT me, and NOT this website.
You should supplement the information on this website with real-life practice at identifying these fungi, preferably along with one of the excellent field guides that are available, and with the help of competent people who know plants. See the
    Booklists for more info.
